No further action over ambulance death fall

NO further action will be taken by the Crown Prosecution Service following the investigation into the death of a teenager who died after falling from a moving ambulance last year.

The police investigation into the death of Natalie Dibden has been concluded and a spokeswoman has confirmed no action is to be taken.

Kate Nelmes, for Gloucestershire Constabulary, said: "In January an advice file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service. The CPS has decided no criminal proceedings should be brought in the case and the matter will now be handed over to the coroner."

Natalie, 16, of Charfield, was fatally injured when she tumbled from the doors of an ambulance as it sped along the M5 motorway between Dursley and Gloucester on Sunday, November 9, with her mother following in her car.

The ambulance had been called to attend the teenager after she collapsed in the centre of Dursley in the early hours following a night out with friends. A paramedic was unable to grab her to prevent her plunging out. It is believed she was in a confused state and thought she was opening a door to go to the toilet.

Natalie had lived in the family home in Orchard Close, with parents Steve and Sarah and her two brothers. She went to The Castle School, Thornbury. In December an inquest was opened and adjourned.
