Name not right

SIR - I have lived in Upper Cam all my life like Mr Jenkins, who was a near neighbour, and have happy memories of The Delkin from Cam Green to The Brook. It seemed to be always filled with wild flowers, primroses, bluebells, dog roses. The name does not transfer well to a housing development of the 21st century. It will be a Delkin village with no Delkin - and we already have Delkin Road in Cam.

I would support Mr Evans' proposed use of the name Littlecombe as that is what it has always been called. Another name for the area was Quagg or as on the 19th century Census forms, Quaggmire, which does sound as if it was survival of the fittest. To be fair to St Modwen Developments they will probably get the drainage right.

At an early meeting with the Regional Development Agency the name Littlecombe was put forward.
