Equality for youths

SIR - Further to your report in the Gazette of March 19, Club Threatened by Protest, I am disgusted to think that there are so many small-minded people living in Berkeley.

Why can't people live and let live? My daughter goes to the youth club and I object strongly to her being labelled a 'yob' or part of a 'rabble'.

As for the comment about taking the youth club out of the town centre into a residential area mainly containing elderly residents, this is an absolute load of rubbish. High Street contains more residents than the few houses adjoining the pavilion.

Personally, I would like to thank the town council and the youth leaders for finally getting a youth club going. Berkeley has always had pensioners clubs for OAPs, playing fields for the little ones and playing fields (ie football and cricket) for the big kids and nothing for the youth. Now the balance is equal.
