Stepping out to have some fun in first run

PEOPLE are being asked to put their best foot forward for the debut of a charity fun run.

Participants will be able to jog, stroll or sprint for the first Woodford Charity Fun run and Walk, which will be held on the Berkeley point-to-point course in Woodford.

The event has been organised by the Amateur Christian Theatrical Society and the United Benefice of Cromhall, Tortworth, Tytherington, Falfield and Rockhampton.

The event is geared to all levels of ability and gives entrants several choices - to run the three-mile, two-lap course or to walk or run just one lap of one-and-a-half miles.

The event is open to people of all ages, individuals, families and teams and entrants are encouraged to raise funds for their own charities by organising individual sponsorships.

The event has received a lot of support including the use of the course from John Berkeley and the printing of certificates - which will be given to everyone competing - donated and printed by Scott Law of Berkeley.

There will also be a prize draw with top prizes donated by the Newport Towers Hotel, Freemans Property Maintenance and Shopfitters, The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, Cattle Country, Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel, Salutation Inn, Ham, and Cotswold Spring Water, of Dodington Ash.

Light refreshments will be available and car parking spaces will be provided on site.

Event administrator Valerie Bishop said organisers are hoping the first event is well attended.

"We hope that as many people as possible will join in - to raise funds for charity, for healthy exercise or just for the fun of the run or walk."

The event will take place on Saturday, May 1 (first race 11am). Everyone is welcome to enter and registration entry forms are available from event administrator Valerie Bishop on 01453 843172.
