Date for broadband

RESIDENTS who staged a successful campaign for the introduction of a high speed internet connection in Berkeley now have a date for when their hard work will be realised.

Campaigners are welcoming the news that the service should go on-line for the exchange on Wednesday, July 28.

Residents Steve Webb and Mat Linnett said: "This is very good news and is the fulfilment of 18 months of campaigning for us in and around Berkeley.

"We are grateful to all those people who have registered their interest in recent months and made this achievement possible."

Stroud MP David Drew said that the new service would be a welcome boost to facilities in the Berkeley exchange including three schools, the town's NHS facilities and the industries in Sharpness Docks.

Mr Webb and Mr Linnett will now update the campaign website to give people information on planning for the new service.

They will also be offering their services to help the campaign to reach the trigger on the Falfield exchange, which also serves Stone and Woodford.
