Skateboard facilities by summer?

SKATEBOARD facilities could be installed at the Park View play area in Berkeley by the end of the summer.

Berkeley Town Council must spend a £3,600 grant that it wasawarded for provision of such facilities by the end of August or the money will be lost.

It is considering installing a half-pipe on the area where some play equipment was burnt down on the Park View site.

Speaking of how local could perceive the idea, Cllr John Freeland said: "We have to have somewhere to keep the skateboarders off the roads. A little bit of noise during daylight hours and in the evenings is only to be expected from a play area."
