Join carnival fun

LITTLE OWLS Playgroup and Owlets Toddler Group are making sure they are part of Dursley's big day out.

They have come up with a lovely theme for the carnival procession taking place on Saturday, July 10 as part of the Dursley Town Festival events.

But we are not going to give away their secret - you will have to come and watch the procession which will be one of the many events during the day.

The streets will be filled with stalls and entertainments, Long Street will be alive with battle of the bands and heritage displays and the recreational field will have a whole afternoon of entertainments including musical performances, fete stalls, inflatable rides, tug of war and a beer tent.

The walking carnival procession will take place at 2pm and will lead the crowds up onto the recreational field for the afternoon's events.

So far at least 70 people will be in the procession but more registrations are needed to ensure the most varied colourful parade possible.

Anyone can join in - young or old - by themselves or in a group.

Be creative express yourself. If you need a starting idea, the festival includes an element of the heritage of the area so perhaps you have something you could dig out of mothballs?

It's so easy to sign up to be part of the procession - just fill in the form in this week's Gazette - and come and join the fun.
