Shock at shortfall

SIR - I was shocked to read your lead article last week about the shortfall in funding for Gloucestershire schools.

I am appalled that my children are being shortchanged in this way. Even if we just got the average funding for England, £274 per child would add up to a lot of money every year for a typical school. Perhaps there wouldn't be so many requests for money for trips and fund raising acitivities!

I will be very happy to collect signatures for the petition and I urge other parents to do likewise - it's not a lot to ask.
