AN AFTERNOON of celebrations to mark the completion of the Jsk8 skate park in Cam attracted huge crowds on Saturday.
The skate park - a joint venture between the parish councils of Cam, Coaley and Slimbridge - has proved immensely popular since work was finished last month.
Instead of staging an official opening, the development of the facility at the Jubilee Field was marked with music, food and, most importantly of all, plenty of action.
Cam Parish Council chairman Cllr Dennis Andrewartha said the day had been "fantastic".
He said: "There were literally hundreds of kids there and everything went exceptionally well. I am sure that everyone enjoyed themselves.
"We can now look forward to having another celebration next year to mark the next phase of the development of the field."
Among the plans for further additions to the field are a teen shelter, a children's play area and a floodlit artificial sports pitch.
