Play was perfectly delivered

SIR - If you didn't buy a ticket to see Our Day Out at Kingshill House last week then you missed a real treat .

The play by Willy Russell was excellently performed by the Dursley Operatic and Dramatics Society Junior. Over 30 young people have been working on this production throughout this year . The play was perfectly and professionally delivered , full of warmth and very funny moments - a real "feel good" evening out .

Not for the first time I was very moved by the energy , enthusiasm and commitment of local young people, positive attributes I believe many people overlook .

Having taken on the role of joint co-ordinator for this year's Dursley Town Festival I have seen time and again a wide variety of young people in this town willingly giving their time and energy to helping make things happen .

I believe they all deserve a bit of recognition and praise for a change . I would like to encourage people of the local communities to take a second look at the young people in their area .

Come and see more local young talent performing at the Youth Cabaret at Capones (Sunday, July 4, 7.30pm) and line the streets on Saturday, July 10 (2pm) for a carnival procession of almost 200 local people .

Come on everybody - it's time for a round of applause for young people.
