Actors receive award shower

AWARDS from Gloucestershire Drama Association have been showered on members of Wotton Dramatic Society.

Andrew Perrett, now 18, was nominated in the Best Young Actor section, for his energetic portrayal of Robbie Hood, Red Riding Hood's brother.

The society was also nominated for the Best Costumes award.

Copenhagen,by Michael Frayn, directed for Wotton Dramatic Society by Jane Wallace, received a first runner-up award for Best Production; and all three actors in the production were nominated for best actor and actress awards - Paul Barber, Anthony Young and Jean Dove.

Wotton-under-Edge Dramatic Society's annual meeting saw several new appointments.

Paul Barber was elected chairman, with Jane Wallace serving as treasurer and Trish Todd, assisted by Ann Falcon-Uff, as publicity officer.

Jean Dove was elected to continue as secretary for another year.

Wotton Dramatic Society's next production will be in the autumn, at the end of October - a large cast, directed by Mary Downs, will present Waiting in the Wings by Noel Coward.

Ms Falcon-Uff said: "Anyone interested in sharing in our success by joining us, including the Wotton-under-Edge Dramatic Society's youth section which meets fortnightly, should contact Jean Dove on 01453 521314."
