Take your own advice

SIR - Nigel Studdert-Kennedy appears quite determined to display contempt for people in Dursley and their representatives.

Just a month after Hilary Fowles was re-elected as district councillor, Mr Studdert-Kennedy thinks she should resign because she has the nerve to ask why it is taking so long to bring a supermarket to Dursley.

As your reporter made clear, Mrs Fowles' concerns are shared by the town council and county councillor Geoff Wheeler. Perhaps they should all tender their resignations as well.

Mr Studdert-Kennedy apparently thinks it is a 'waste of time' to respond to these concerns. I always thought it was the duty of local politicians to call council leaders to account.

If Mr Studdert-Kennedy finds this too onerous, he should take his own advice and make way for someone who actually believes in local democracy.
