Saints march over Rovers

Forest Green Rovers 0 Southampton 6

AFTER a promising performance in the 1-0 defeat against Reading last Tuesday, Rovers were brought back down to earth on Friday as Southampton reserves handed out a 6-0 drubbing.

Rovers never got into their stride against the Saints, who were indebted to the immensely talented Republic of Ireland Under-17 striker Leon Best, who helped himself to a hat-trick. For Rovers former Bristol Rovers keeper Danny Greaves produced a number of fine stops but striker Mark Beesley missed three useful headed chances, while youth team star Matt Bown again showed much promise. Meanwhile, midfielder Simon Bryant has signed a one-year deal after his release from Bristol Rovers.

ROVERS travel to Darren Perrin's Paulton Rovers this Saturday, 3pm and then face Bristol City at The Lawn next Wednesday.
