Motirway shut after crash

AN ACCIDENT on the southbound carriageway of the M5 closed two lanes for more than six hours on Sunday.

Fire crews from Gloucester, Stroud and Wotton-under-Edge were called to the accident, near Michaelwood Services, at 6.30pm after a Citroen Xsara, with three passengers, left the road and crashed into a barrier.

One person had to be cut from the vehicle and all three were taken to Frenchay Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 0845 090 1234.
