Slimbridge gear up for huge clash

SLIMBRIDGE entertain Didcot Town in a top of the table Hellenic Premier Division game at Wisloe Road on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Unbeaten Didcot arrive with only one blemish on their league record to date, a 0-0 draw at Tuffley Rovers, while the home side have only a 1-0 reverse at Pewsey Vale to theirs this season.

The visitors were the only team to complete a 'double' over Slimbridge last season, 3-0 at their ground and 2-1 at Wisloe Road, but still managed only fifth place in the final league table, one place below their hosts tomorrow.

With both sides looking to steal an advantage, an intriguing game is in prospect.

On Tuesday Slimbridge travel to Wootton Bassett Town in their first round defence of the Norman Matthews Hellenic Floodlit Cup, after receiving a bye through the preliminary round. Bassett originally lost their preliminary round tie at home to Malmesbury Victoria in a penalty shoot out after a 0-0 draw, but were reinstated after Malmesbury had apparently played an ineligible player.

Kick off is 7.30pm, with the game going to extra time and penalties if needed.
