SIR - Messrs Moodie and Weaver (Gazette, September 24) seem to be under the misapprehension that the green bin is only for garden waste and, as such, is not going to be used during the winter. Do they not realise that they can recycle cardboard in the green bin? If so, this might explain why their black bins are so full. read more
FOLLOWING a wet August, September began with an Indian summer, with no rain during the first nine days of the month. Afternoon temperatures climbed to 21 degrees Centigrade (70 Fahrenheit) or above on eight occasions. Thereafter the month was less settled, 2.48in of rain being recorded.
