Dursley's trip to the Forest pays off

Mushet & Coalway 0 Dursley Town 4

DURSLEY made the long trip to the Forest on Saturday knowing that only three points would be good enough.

Town started brightly with Booth and Nash using the flanks to good effect, ably supported by by full backs Gilly and James.

It was no more than Town deserved when Gillinghams cross was met perfectly by Beevor, whose powerful header gave the keeper no chance.

The home side knew they had to fight for an equaliser, but with Dolbear breaking down most of their play and Hill picking up the pieces, they were finding it difficult to break through. When they did penetrate they found Thomas and Crowcombe in determined fashion at the back.

Dursley came out after the break knowing that some of their second half performances had let them down this season, but it was not to be the case this week. Ian Beevor soon made it two goals when he pounced in the box for a good striker's goal.

Trinder quickly followed him on to the score sheet when he got a touch on to a long shot, stroking the ball past a wrong footed keeper.

At this stage, Dursley were pushing forward for more goals, allowing Mushet a couple of half chances, but Town keeper Williams kept them at bay with little trouble.

Antony Nash made it 4-0 after more good approach play by Beevor allowed the impressive youngster a one-on-one with the Mushet custodian, and he made no mistake.

This was a much better second half display from Dursley Town with man of the match Chris Dolbear putting in an inspirational captains performance, covering every inch of the pitch.

It hasn't been an easy performance for Dursley, but the message from the management team of Booth and Aldridge seems to be slowly getting through to the team.

Any visit to the forest can be difficult, but if Dursley continue to play with this good attitude and commitment, who knows where this season might take them.
