Consent urged for big site plan

THE FIRST phase of the Littlecombe development on the former Lister Petter site in Dursley could be formally approved next week.

Stroud District Council's development control committee will on Tuesday assess two planning applications from St Modwen and the South West Regional Development Agency.

They are seeking full planning permission to redistribute sand from the foundry on the site and also outline planning permission for the industrial estate that forms the first phase of the development.

The industrial buildings are expected to be used by employers currently on the site, such as Lister Petter Ltd and Deutz, who will have to make way when the later phases of the plan are put into action.

Both applications have been recommended for permission by officers, although it will be down to the members of the committee to make the final decision.

Some letters of objection have been received by the council, including that the description of the proposed industrial development is too loose.

However, as the application is for outline permission, a more detailed plan will have to be submitted and approved before any buildings take shape.

Any decision by the committee may also be delayed by a month if members vote have a sites panel visit.
