True country folk back hunting ban

SIR - What a wonderful day it will be when hunting is banned once and for all. We true country people have longed for this for years after seeing the wanton cruelty that it involves, not only to the deer and foxes, but also the hounds and horses that are used in this evil so called sport.

One thing that will become obvious when the ban comes into force will be that the grass verges will not be cut to pieces and no more blocked drains left by the earth stoppers.

I do feel sorry for the council's road men as this may cause some of them to be made redundant, not so the police as they were conspicuous by their absence when hunt vehicles park in local slip roads and followers standing up in the cars, where are their seat belts?

Perhaps they are too busy with their cameras trying to catch innocent motorists doing a few miles over the speed limit. And last but not least I have to thank our MPs of all parties who voted for the ban and listened to the 80 per cent of the electorate who wanted it.

I hope now that the Countryside Alliance will now disband and stop littering the countryside with the posters and rubbish that none of us believed anyway.
