Ideas are ridiculed

SIR - I wish Mr John Wilkes would take his triangular-shaped windows and his polycarbonate lighting panels that he wishes to see installed into Durley's new library up to Tetbury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold, or any other Cotswold town and see how quickly they make a complete mockery of his ridiculous ideas.

Dursley has been spoilt over the years by unsympathetic planning. I hope lessons have been learnt and our local councils agree that we should uphold certain traditions when building, that is in keeping with our surroundings and heritage.

Visit the local pubs, Mr Wilkes! Your latest ideas have provided the locals with a huge amount of amusing conversation last weekend.

William Rowlands, Malvern View, Dursley
