Charities Fair well attended

A CHARITIES Fair in Wotton-under-Edge at the weekend was very well attended, raising more than £3,000.

Around 20 stalls raised money for branches of charities, small charities and community groups in the area. The final total of money raised was £3,838.

Organiser Alison Sutton said: "We would like to thank all those who took part with a special thank you to the members of the public who braced the elements to support charities involved. Another charities fair will be held in the spring."

One of the groups which took part was Wotton Animal Rescue, run by Veronica Bruce.

She said: "At the moment, we are overwhelmed with older cats. The rescue centre outside Wotton houses them for the RSPCA and the Cats Protection League.

"We have cats from eight weeks old to 14 years old but it's the older ones who need new homes most. People who take kittens sometimes feel a bit guilty when they walk past our groups of more mature cats."

Anyone willing to give a home a cat can call on 01453 842884.
