County's new High Sheriff sworn in

THE new Sheriff of Gloucestershire was sworn in at a special ceremony last week.

Michael Stone, a businessman who lives near Wotton-under-Edge, took over the post last Friday.

The High Sheriff is historically the Queen's representative in the county and it by Royal appointment.

Mr Stone was accompanied at the ceremony by his wife Louisa.

Despite being retired, Mr Stone is still involved with a number of business ventures and has a dairy farm in Surrey and two moorland estates in County Durham.
