Forget about your stroll in the woods

DON'T go down to the woods today....

You'll get a horrible surprise if you try to use the footpaths and bridleways of Nunnery and Twinberrow Woods for quiet and safe enjoyment, as, throughout the weekends (and often during the lighter weekday evenings) users of off-road motorcycles roar around on unsilenced machines, churning up the tracks through the woods.

The noise can be heard throughout the Woodmancote and Highfields areas of Dursley, to the great detriment of local residents who cannot escape the intrusion caused by this illegal and anti-social activity.

Is it not time that the police and neighbourhood wardens made a real effort to apprehend this selfish and dangerous minority? Or is it no longer considered an offence to use untaxed, uninsured, unlicensed and non road-legal vehicles on the public highway and public footpaths? I think we should be told.
