Down pints for funds

DURSLEY Rugby Football Club will be holding a beer festival from Friday, April 29, to Sunday, May 1.

The festival is being held to raise funds to cover the required expansion of the playing area at the club.

An ever-increasing number of players are attending the club, typified by the minis and junior sections that boast over 400 registered players.

Events kick-off at 6.30pm on Friday with the minis and junior presentation evening and disco.

The festival continues from 12.30pm on Saturday with 18 assorted types of real ale and cider on sale, as well as lager and wine.

A rugby sevens tournament is scheduled to start at 1.30pm, while there will be Kwik Cricket for the juniors from 2pm - all equipment will be provided, just bring trainers.

Phat and Funky, who proved so popular last year, will provide live music on Saturday evening.

A car boot sale will be held on Sunday (10am-2pm - sellers arrive 9am). Real ale, tea, coffee and bacon rolls will be available.

Tickets for the beer festival (Friday and Saturday) can be obtained from Bramleys fruit and vegetable shop, Parsonage Street and RA Bennett Estate Agents, Long Street, both in Dursley.
