Wardens are happy to help

NEIGHBOURHOOD Wardens were out in Cam last week promoting the service to the public.

Two wardens, who work as part of the Stroud Area Crime and Disorder Partnership, handed out leaflets to shoppers outside Cam Co-op on how they can help deal with minor incidents.

Clive Edwards, Cam's Neighbourhood Warden, said: "We are doing this to bring the public up together with the role of the Neighbourhood Wardens. We are finding that sometimes we are walking about and not getting noticed.

"We want to make the public more aware that we are happy to help.

"We are like a stepping stone before people call the police. People can talk to us to see if we can help. We can deal with all the minor incidents rather than involving the police.

Kaz Elliot, Neighbourhood Warden in Wotton-under-Edge and Kingswood, said: "We can act as an intermediary for people. We are hoping to have similar events in Dursley and Wotton-under-Edge in the future."
