Blueprint for vale's future

MEMBERS OF Vale Vision are keeping tight-lipped about the contents of the blueprint for what the communities of Cam, Dursley and district would like to see incorporated into future development.

The working group was set up to develop the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative Partnership and has produced a 124-page Community Strategy for Cam, Dursley and District, which will be revealed to the public for the first time at Kingshill House on Saturday, May 21.

Since the group was formed with the goal of putting together the plan, businesses and residents have been asked what they would like to see developed in the community in future.

The result is a document that officials can consult when planning future projects for the area.

Through the plan Vale Vision want to reflect Dursley's heritage and culture and make it a place where shoppers and tourists wish to linger and shop and people want to work.

Chairman of Vale Vision Geoff Wheeler told the Gazette this week: "The community plan has been put together from suggestions from various groups in Cam, Dursley and surrounding area over two and a half years. We have taken into account what people think will help in the area over the next ten to 20 years. It will be an opportunity for local people to see what projects will take the plan forward into the future."

Project co-ordinator Shirley Hill said: "The official launch will be a celebration of the fact that it is the first time people can see the ideas on paper. The plan is looks at all aspects of the area from development, travel and transport and the community. People have seen bits of the plan but it will be the first time people will have seen it has a whole."
