Give the dog a home

CAN anybody give a dog a home?

Chalkie, a five-year-old thoroughbred Staffordshire bull terrier, was found abandoned outside a Dursley shop owner's home yesterday morning.

Alan Greenhill and his family found the dog on their doorstep with a note explaining why he had been left there.

Mr Greenhill said: "My daughter was on her way out of the door and he was lying on the doorstep with an envelope addressed to Kite 'n' Sk8."

In the letter, Chalkie describes himself as having impeccable manners, excellent toilet training and a love of children. He also enjoys walking and sleeping.

Mr Greenhill added: "He is a cracking little dog. He is obedient and has completely behaved himself since I've had him. He hasn't even barked once despite all the excitement around him.

"He really is great with children - my two kids have been fussing all over him." The letter adds that Chalkie had to be given up by his owner because his partner was pregnant.

It also lists his dietary requirements as a tin of dog food a day plus biscuits, as well as a love of Galaxy chocolate.

Mr Greenhill will take care of Chalkie over the weekend but cannot take him on long term.

If anyone would like to give Chalkie a permanent home they can call Mr Greenhill on 07775 831157 or drop into Kite 'n' Sk8 in Silver Street.
