THE SECOND Dursley Rugby Club Beer Festival proved to be a great success with some excellent weather and some classic beers.
The event opened last Friday evening with the end of season presentations for the Mini and Junior section of the club.
Each of the 250 children received a medal and there were also awards for the Most Improved Player and Player of the Year in each of the ten age groups.
Nigel Melville, director of coaching at Gloucester Rugby Club, was on hand to present the medals and congratulate all the children.
Saturday's Sevens competition saw Cardiff University emerge as winners after a closely fought contest with Rednock Former Pupils.
In the evening, Phat and Funky entertained all the festival guests with some great music.
On Sunday, after a successful car boot sale the Dursley Veterans' team played the Gloucestershire Police and ran out worthy winners.
A profit of at least £6,000 was made over the weekend, which will go towards the purchase of more land that the club so desperately needs.
Organiser Roger Batty said: "Thank you to all the sponsors of the event and all the volunteers, without whom the event would not have been the great success that it was."
