Dresden bombing

ON reading the letters column (Gazette, April 22) I was rather surprised at the one letter from Dr Chris Burns, in which he wrote Messers Blair, Straw and Hoon were, in many people's view, war criminals.

If you want to go down that road, may I remind you of one of the Second World War's worst criminals. I of course refer to Winston Spencer Churchill and the indiscriminate bombing of the city of Dresden until it was totally destroyed even when the outcome and the end of the war was imminent. Many hundreds of thousands of deaths of women and children resulted.

Not content with that, Churchill also removed war records which belonged to the nation and his family later sold them to the Imperial War Museum for several million of pounds.
