Travel plan for the future

CAM Everlands Primary School has a brand new travel plan to improve safety on journeys to and from school and to encourage sustainable travel.

School travel plan adviser Helen Muir visited the Birch Road school several times to survey the area, review current school journey patterns and chart possible improvements.

A good response to a questionnaire means that the plan is based firmly on the opinions of parents and pupils.

The plan was presented to representatives of the school community by Anthony Meehan, Gloucestershire County Council's transport planner.

Head teacher Ian Dixon said: "We are very pleased with the plan. Some of the new ideas about safer pedestrian access to our site and improved traffic management are simple but effective and will help ease congestion and make it easier to walk to school.

"Lessons are planned to involve pupils in improving road safety on and around our school site. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed to our plan."
