Shop's scarecrow stolen

A SCARECROW displayed during Coaley's annual scarecrow competition has been stolen.

Reggie the Veggie Man was on display outside the community shop and was stolen overnight on Saturday.

Kim Branfield, who works at the shop and made Reggie, said: "One of the neighbours looked outside and he was there at about 10.30pm on Saturday but he was gone in the morning.

"We found his head, which was a melon, down by Cam and Dursley railway station, but that is as far as we have got. It is a strange thing to take. He wasn't the best of the scarecrows and I am wondering if somebody took him for the clothes he was wearing."

She added: "Hopefully we will get him back - we haven't had a ransom note yet."
