STAFF, pupils and local dignitaries celebrated the opening of Uley Primary School's new buildings this week.
On Monday the Bishop of Gloucester, the Right Rev Michael Perham, blessed the new buildings, which include two classrooms, an entrance hall, new office space and an extension to the staff room to improve school facilities.
The £360,000 project was funded by grants, public funding and school fund-raising events over a four-year period.
The official opening ceremony was also attended by parents and 90-year-old villager May Neville who was a pupil at the school before becoming a teacher there.
Head Karl Joyce said: "We moved into the new buildings in January and the children and staff have been making good use of them. The bishop was most impressed by the facilities that we have here. The children held a ceremony on the playing field and the theme of it was remembering the past. It was very special to have Mrs Neville here for that as she remembered the school when it was very small.
"The children really enjoyed the ceremony and they got a lot from it - it is something they will remember for a long time."
