Rovers sqaud starts to take shape

GARY OWERS is insisting he will have his squad in place well before the opening Conference fixture at home to Cambridge United on August 13.

Rovers currently have ten players registered for next season and completed the latest piece of the jigsaw by adding former Kidderminster, Hereford and Chester forward Ian Foster (pictured, right) on a two-year contract.

Owers was this week casting his eye over a number of trialists as Forest Green started training on a full-time basis.

Three former Bristol City players goalkeeper Clint Davies, defender Sekani Simpson (pictured, left), who spent a short spell on loan at Forest Green before, and striker Marvin Brown are all hoping to earn a contract.

Former Yeovil duo Chris Giles and Jamie Gosling are also hoping to catch the eye.

Owers was delighted with the capture of Foster: "Ian has a proven track record at this level, and has previously won the Conference with Kidderminster and Chester."

The former Liverpool apprentice was released by Kidderminster at the end of last season.

"I have got a list of players as long as a phone directory, but I can assure the supporters that we will have the squad we want well before the start of the season."
