Let kids have fun

WHAT a shame that someone actually thinks that the 'Dursley Rosebuds' is not a good idea. Last time I looked, dressing up in a pretty dress, meeting new friends and joining in with a community event was not a crime. My daughter took part last year and still talks about the 'Rosebuds special day' even now.

Should we expect a four year old to be politically correct and think 'did I earn this?'. That message should come from the home anyway! The message the 'Rosebuds' sends is that all little girls are beautiful! The message to narrow-minded, mean-spirited people should be that childhood is gone in the blink of an eye and children should enjoy being children for as long as possible.

PS Maybe the Gazette could hold a nobbly knees competition for the boys next year - I could enter my son's, and here's a radical idea for ZJ Young: children could just have fun at Dursley carnival.
