They had their say

OF THE various reactions to the news of Tesco's purchase of Cam Co-op, Mrs Nolder is quoted as saying: "The people of Dursley must have a say" (Gazette, July 8).

I recall that they did have their say a number of years ago via the Dursley Town Appraisal. This document was rapidly consigned to the waste paper basket when the people of Dursley "had their say" by voting substantially against a large supermarket in the town.

It is rather ironic that they may yet have their way by the apparent treachery of Tesco.
