Tell the RSPB

I AM country born and bred. We are used to being called country bumpkins but we are not barbaric people who catch wild birds in cages to kill. I wonder where John Kemp (Gazette Letters, July 8) has seen these poor birds and why anyone would want to kill them?

We in the country make sure the birds survive the winter by feeding them. In hot summers we have bird baths in the gardens, we also get annoyed at cats who catch and kill them. I have never seen or heard or any cages or traps in gardens before. I hope, John, you have reported this to the RSPB.
