A GUEST at a wedding reception at Tortworth Court Hotel was left with a broken nose, wobbly teeth and in need of stitches to her head after being attacked in the estate's car park.
The 37-year-old woman went to her car at around 8pm on Sunday but as she got in, there was tapping on the window.
The woman, who has not been named, saw a man outside her car. He quickly pulled open the door and began hitting her around the head with a glass bottle.
The attacker then used his hands to try and choke the victim, who managed to bite his finger in a desperate attempt to get free.
The man then ran off in the direction of Leyhill Prison.
He is described as a white male, aged between 38 and 45 and of medium build. He is balding with some short dark hair on the sides of his head and clean shaven. He was wearing large glasses, a dark blue zip-up fleece, blue jeans and black shoes.
Sector deputy Sgt Andy McIlrath said: "Whether or not this was an attempted robbery or something more sexual, we do not know.
"We are currently unsure as to this man's motive."
Police are currently liaising with staff at Leyhill Prison after a prisoner matching the attacker's description absconded shortly before the assault.
Tortworth Court's general manager Martin Orme said: "I can confirm that an incident occurred in the car park at the hotel on Sunday, July 31. This is currently being investigated by the police and it is therefore inappropriate for me to comment further."
