AN INVITATION is being extended by the Tyndale Choral Society, to an open rehearsal on Monday, September 5 (7.30pm) at Dursley Methodist Church.
This taster evening is an opportunity for interested people to see if they would like to join the choir.
All those keen on making music will be welcomed.
Fun and enthusiasm for music-making have been the hallmarks of Tyndale Choral Society since it was founded by Mollie Neale 45 years ago.
This was evident at the society's garden party on Sunday, July 31 when 60 members, past and present, joined with other friends and their former musical director, Michael Power, to celebrate this milestone.
There was time to look at old photos, programmes and press cuttings and to recall the happiness of rehearsals in North Nibley and Stinchcombe, despite occasional problems with heating and seating.
A letter from former choir member Rosemary Bowmer read by chairman Anne Shipton brought back memories of founder Mollie Neale who always began rehearsals with a joke or anecdote.
The choir continues to keep the fun element alive and kicking under the baton of its current director Ian Harrold and seeks to expand the social life of the society whenever possible.
The choir returns to rehearsals after the August break to work on the winter concert programme: the Mass in D Minor (Nelson) by Haydn, appropriate in the year of the bicentennial of Trafalgar; and the less well-known but enjoyable Pastoral by Arthur Bliss, a celebration of harvest-time dedicated to Elgar.
The concert, with guest soloists, including Michael Power (tenor), and his wife Tina (soprano) and orchestra will take place on Saturday, November 12 at St James Church, Dursley.
If you are interested in joining the choir, attending the open rehearsal, or in any of the forthcoming events, contact Julia O'Connor-Beach on 01454 260877 for further details.
