THE Slimbridge annual summer show on Saturday was another outstanding success.
The event, organised by Slimbridge Horticultural Society, enjoyed good weather and a record number of people attending.
The Ada Tarr Cup for the best summer garden in the village was awarded to Sylvia Hatcliffe, who also won the Ron Frith Silver Salver for best flower arranging exhibit and the Robinson Rose Bowl for scoring most points in the flower arranging section.
Brionney Lees was awarded the Girls' Cup for the girl scoring the most points, with Kelvin Hines winning the Boys' Cup.
Prizes were presented to the winners by the society's vice-president Beryl Howell.
The show was closed with the auction of produce.
Horticultural Society chairman "Geranium" George Baker said: "The number of entries and the quality of the exhibits was high and I was pleased to see increased entries in the children's classes.
"I was pleased to welcome new members joining our society, which is still growing after 63 years."
* Show results will be published in next week's Gazette.
