Week-long feast of organic products

ORGANIC Week, the country's largest celebration of organic food and farming, starts tomorrow.

The theme of the 11th Organic Week is A Feast of Flavours because most people switch to organic food for the taste.

The event is organised by the Soil Association, the UK's main charity promoting organic food and farming.

People around the country will have the chance to visit their local organic farm during Organic Experience Weekend on September 10 and September 11.

Many farms will hold special events such as tractor rides, barbecues and farm walks. To find out about an event near you, visit www.organicweek.org or call 0117 314 5000.

The famous Organic Food Festival, now in its fourth year, takes place this weekend on Bristol's Harbourside. Entry to the festival is free and will include cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs, the chance to take part in special tastings and opportunities to try and buy the UK's best organic products - food, drink, beauty products and clothes are all on offer. This is the fourth year for this successful event and more than 50,000 people are expected to attend.

This year's events will be complemented by the Fresh and Wild Festival Fringe, supported by the Arts Council, which combines dance, photography, street theatre, sculpture, music and more around the festival site. The fringe is free to the public apart from two evening concerts featuring the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra and Matthew Herbert's Plat du Jour, which will be held respectively tomorrow and Sunday evenings at the Victoria Rooms, Clifton, Bristol.

For more information about the Organic Food Festival, visit www.organicweek.org/festival or call 0117 314 5000. Organic Week is organised in partnership with Hambleden Herbs, Whole Earth Foods, Highland Spring Natural Mineral Water and River Cottage.
