Readers Gloucestershire County League 1st XI - Division Four Cam v Upton St Leonards
A DREADFUL batting collapse meant that Cam slipped to defeat and out of the top two in Division Four of the County League.
Visitors Upton St Leonards took a second victory over their hosts this season despite only making 143 all out themselves.
Upton were just 2-1 from the first six overs as Chris Livall and Eddie Rendall bowled superbly.
Change bowlers Guy Hutchinson and captain Pete Hall also prevented any excessive scoring as the visitors took 36 overs to reach 100. Rendall finished as the hosts best bowler, taking four wickets, while Marment made the top score of 44 in a total of 143.
Cam started their reply disastrously as four wickets fell in the first ten overs with just 23 on the board.
Only Hall (15) reached double figures early on, while Graeme Brown (7) and Tom Deakin (11) tried to halt the slide with a watchful partnership.
Dave Ward (14) briefly helped the cause but nobody could stay in for any length of time and Cam finished on just 95 all out, even missing out on an extra batting point, which could be crucial in the final analysis.
Nothing short of maximum points against struggling Cheltenham Saracens tomorrow will do if Cam are to go up.
