All go for Phoenix

PHOENIX Netball Club are preparing for the 2005/06 season in the Avon League.

Based at Katharine Lady Berkeley's School between Wotton-under-Edge and Kingswood, the club is looking for new players to bolster their two sides.

Named Phoenix after forming from the remains of the old Freelances and Wotton clubs ten years ago, they would welcome players of any age or ability. The club's first team finished mid-table in Division One of the Avon League last term and are hoping to make it to the Premiership this season.

In Debbie McCowatt, they have had the division's most voted Player of the Match for the past two campaigns.

Phoenix II play in Division Six, a rank that they maintained thanks to a nailbiting relegation play-off win. The club train on Tuesday nights at KLB, Wotton-under-Edge and play matches on alternate Saturdays from September through to April.

If you would like to come along for a training session call club chairman Nicola Dickson on 01453 549167 or come to KLB from 7.15pm on Tuesdays.
