Hancock leaves Gloucestershire

GLOUCESTERSHIRE County Cricket Club have announced that long-serving batsman Tim Hancock is to be released.

The top order batsmen is to leave the club along with Roger Sillence.

GCCC chief executive Tom Richardson said: "Tim Hancock has been a very good servant of this club and has always been extremely professional in his approach.

"However, we are reducing the size of the squad and are looking to sign a quality top order overseas batsman.

"We also want to give opportunities and bring on a number of young players.

"We want to thank Tim whole-heartedly for all his efforts for the club and wish him the best of luck for the future."

Sillence, who was also thanked by Richardson, has been with the club for five seasons and has had some notable performances. However, he has not been able to break into the side regularly and younger players have now gone past him.
