Frys turn up the heat on Phoenix while seconds lose too

Avon Netball League Division One Phoenix I 35 Frys 37

PHOENIX lost out to Frys by just two goals.

Still being early in the season, the Phoenix girls were concentrating on tactics and positioning but with Frys' excellent defensive game, Phoenix produced a less fluid display than usual.

Each quarter saw the Phoenix close down Frys' goalscoring tally but it was not quite enough.

Despite being beaten, it was still a game to be pleased with and earned Phoenix a point for their championship bid.

Particular tribute goes to Julie Abbotts, who was voted player of the match by Frys. Avon Netball League Division Six

Phoenix II 15 Georgians II 35

THE second team suffered a disappointing loss against Georgians II.

Phoenix started sluggishly and were completely overrun in the first quarter, being down 13-2.

The second quarter saw Phoenix have longer spells of possession, although Georgians shooting accuracy from the edge of the circle kept the score ticking over. The half-time morale boost worked once more and Phoenix won the third quarter.

However, Georgians battled back in the final quarter and took the win. Sian Traying won player of the match for her movement and shooting ability.
