Pain for poor Plain

Rugby Union Wotton 43 Broad Plain 0

WOTTON enjoyed an excellent win over Broad Plain at Rose Hill School.

The home side included four debutants in their line-up and also welcomed back Olli Boyle from suspension.

Wotton were dominant from the start and an early forward drive set up one of the debutants - Darren Graves - to power his way under the posts. Graves added another try shortly afterwards and then Boyle finished off a superb backs move.

The hosts lost back row forward Brad Vernon to a serious shoulder injury at the break and he was replaced by up and coming youngster Rob Fisher.

Wotton controlled the game in the forwards and drove Broad Plain around the pitch at will. The home backs were constantly in receipt of good ball and Graves was able to outpace the defence for his hat-trick try.

The next try came after Boyle stole the ball from a Broad Plain scrum and Tim Brown broke off from the resultant drive to score.

James Keegan then marked his debut with a try, picking up after Needs was tackled just short of the line. Late on, Wotton try-machine Brown added another to his season's tally.

Will Cooper was superb on his debut, as was Graves, who capped his debut with 23 points.
