THE annual craft fair in Uley at the weekend has been hailed a success.
The event, which was held in the village hall on Saturday and organised by the village hall management committee, attracted a wide variety of craft stalls and exhibitors. They included wood turner Ronald Large, local artist Stella Hender and Uley WI members who displayed their home-made knitwear. Visitors were also shown the traditional way to weave baskets.
The event raised £460, which will be used towards paying for the village hall's extension.
Chairman of the management committee Janet Dacey said: "The amount we raised was really good and we were really pleased with it.
"We have recently started a youth group in the village hall and they need a place to store new equipment so we are building an extension on the back. We have recently been given permission to build it but it will cost around £15,000 so we need to keep fundraising for it."
Some of the money is being raised by holding Sunday lunch events. The next one being held in November will be a traditional bangers and mash lunch.
Mrs Dacey added: "They have been really popular and we get 60 to 70 people coming. They are really good fun for people in the village."
