WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE Bowls Club held their annual presentation evening on Friday, September 30, when club president Vernon Jotcham presented the trophies and prizes to the club competition winners, who were as follows.
Men's singles R Newman (21), runner-up J Heathcote (14); Men's pairs W Peters and L Gay (18), runners-up R Blacker and P Gorman (17); Men's handicap A Cook (101), runner-up K Faraday (94).
Ladies' singles R Parker (21), runner-up N Benson (ten); Ladies' two-wood singles N Benson (23), runner-up M Walker (eight); Ladies' pairs D Long and C Malpass (23), runners-up J Brazill and M Mutter (16).
Mixed singles J Heathcote (21), runner-up A Cook (nine); Mixed pairs A Cook and M Mutter (23), runners-up R Newman and P Newman (ten).
Club Plate: M Arkle (21), runner-up V Heathcote (five). Triples Day winners: A Bryant, M Arkle and R Banks.
There were some surprise winners of the club competitions with club veteran Ruth Parker winning the ladies' singles for the first time, Bill Peters and Les Gay beating all the odds and favourites to win the men's pairs and the talented 16-year-old Matthew Arkle winning the Club Plate.
The rest of the evening was spent devouring the sumptuous buffet provided by the club ladies and dancing to the music of Shooting Stars.
