Dursley stunned by Cirencester

Powergen Junior Vase Second Round Dursley 5 Cirencester 50

DURSLEY were soundly beaten by Cirencester in their Powergen Junior Vase second round tie.

The visitors simply overwhelmed their opponents and could well have clocked up more than just the half century of points.

Indeed, only a spill by Chris Thorn, with the line at his mercy, prevented the home side going behind in the first minute.

However, Cirencester opened the scoring just two minutes later when the ball was moved wide for Adam Seager to score.

Charlie Whitfield added the next two tries and then prop Neil Bunce drove over for the fourth try.

Dursley responded with a try of their own from a rolling maul but still went into half-time well adrift.

The hosts battled hard after the break but were picked off a further four times as they tried to force the game.

Matt Wood went over for the first score of the half, Whitfield completed his hat-trick, Seager got his second and captain Shane Marriott rounded off a deserved win for Cirencester.

Dursley will look to bounce back when they travel to Smiths Industries tomorrow.
