Residents brighten up their houses to aid a good cause

FAMILES across the district have been getting in the festive spirit by adorning their homes with Christmas lights.

In Lynch Road, Berkeley Stan and Margaret Fryer have decorated their home with thousands of lights in aid of Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

Mrs Fryer told the Gazette: "This is about the third time we have raised money for this charity - it is a charity we like to support. Our lights were switched on by a representative from the charity on December 2 and they will stay on until the 12th day of Christmas. We have had a lot of support from people and we hope to raise £1,000."

Another area gripped by the festive fever is Fountain Crescent in Wotton-under-Edge, where residents who have decorated their home are collecting money for Minchinhampton-based Cotswold Care Hospice, which cares for people with degenerative life illnesses.

Other houses to be tripping the light fantastic can be seen in Dursley, Cam and on the A38 near Stone.
