Front row injury forces abandonment

Gloucester League Division Two Old Elizabethans 17 Dursley 5 (Match Abandoned after 52 minutes)

AN INJURY in the Old Elizabethans front row prompted the referee to abandon the game after 52 minutes of play.

The maroon and yellows made a terribly lethargic start and found themselves 17-0 down at half-time after conceding two soft tries and a penalty.

Dursley came out with something to prove after the break and soon registered a try.

Turning down the opportunity of an easy three points, they took a catch and drive at a lineout and Mark Stamp burrowed over.

The visitors should have pulled another try back soon after but a forward pass scuppered the chance.

Dursley began to dominate in the scrums and Old E's could only halt them by collapsing.

However, a collapse resulted in an injury to one of their props and with no replacement available the referee abandoned the match.

Dursley have contacted the Rugby Football Union to seek guidance on what should now happen.

The Stinchcombe side do not have a game this weekend.
